When the weight of what someone is carrying finally becomes too heavy to manage alone, that is often the moment Pat Allen receives a call. Pat is a Registered Social Worker based in Hamilton, Ontario, who works with teenagers, adults, and older individuals navigating some of life’s most difficult passages β from persistent anxiety and depression to chronic illness, family conflict, and the particular pressures that come with professional burnout.
At the core of Pat’s practice is a strengths-based orientation: the belief that each person arrives with inherent capacities and purpose, and that the right support can bring those qualities forward. Drawing on cognitive behavioural therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and interpersonal therapy, Pat works with individuals and families to identify what has them feeling stuck and to build a clearer path through it. Areas of focus include mood and personality disorders, adjustment challenges, parenting and co-parenting concerns, adoption, and the emotional weight of living with chronic pain or serious illness.
Pat also brings a background in youth work and criminal justice settings, which informs a practice grounded in seeing people as whole β not as a collection of problems to be managed, but as individuals capable of living the life they were meant to live. Online sessions are available.
