Patrick Keelan

Real skills, a clear plan, and the strengths you already have.

About Me

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the organizing principle behind Patrick Keelan’s work — a structured, skills-first approach to psychological care that he has practiced under the certification of both the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies. He maintains ongoing consultation with Dr. Christine Padesky, co-author of Mind Over Mood, keeping his clinical work grounded in the field’s leading research. His practice spans individual counselling, couples and family work, and DSM-V diagnosis and treatment, with particular depth in depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, addictions, eating issues, anger, and self-esteem.

Keelan works with a wide range of people — children, teens, adults, and older adults — navigating concerns that include substance use, abuse recovery, mood disorders, and the relationship strain that builds when devices consistently pull family members in separate directions during the hours they’re meant to be together. He integrates Feedback Informed Treatment into every session, using real-time input from clients about their wellbeing and satisfaction to actively shape the course of therapy. Online sessions are available.

His own background as a competitive athlete informs how he frames the work: identify the challenge, build a concrete plan, practise the skills. The goal is to help clients apply the same capacities that carry them through other demanding areas of life.
