Ruth Altamura-ROll

Real change begins when someone finally feels heard.

About Me

From children navigating early trauma to adults rebuilding after addiction, Ruth Altamura-Roll meets people where they are — and has spent her career doing exactly that across some of New Jersey’s most demanding settings. She has worked in residential shelters for displaced children, halfway houses for women in recovery, an intensive supervision program serving as an alternative to incarceration, school counseling programs, and private practice. That breadth has given her a grounded, practical fluency with crisis, loss, and the slow work of recovery.

Ruth helps individuals, couples, and families work through addiction, abuse, trauma, mood disorders, grief, and the pressures of daily life — including the quiet friction that builds when phones compete with conversation at the dinner table. Her training spans cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR-adjacent trauma approaches, Imago couples work, play therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and addiction medicine, among others.

Licensed as a Professional Counselor in New Jersey and credentialed through the National Board of Certified Counselors, Ruth holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Trenton State College and a certificate in alcohol and chemical dependency counseling. She sees clients in Flemington, NJ and offers online sessions.
