Susanna Huffman builds therapy around relationship β the conviction that real progress happens when a client feels genuinely known, not just assessed. Working from a person-centered foundation, she pairs that relational core with structured, evidence-based tools: Gottman Method for couples, and EMDR for clients carrying significant trauma who want something beyond talk alone. Sessions are available in person in the far north Dallas area or fully online across Texas and Colorado.
Her caseload spans individuals, couples, and families, and she works with clients from age eleven onward. Across eight years she has concentrated most heavily on addiction β alcohol and substance use, sex addiction, and the compulsive reward-seeking that now shows up just as easily in gambling apps and late-night scrolling loops as anywhere else β alongside trauma, betrayal, anxiety, and relationship rupture. She is an affirming provider for LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kink-identifying clients, and approaches spirituality as the client’s territory to bring in or leave out entirely.
Before private practice, Huffman directed residential and intensive outpatient substance-use programs, experience that shapes how she thinks about severity, pacing, and what consistent support actually looks like. She holds an M.S. in Counseling from Southern Methodist University and does not take insurance, though she provides superbills for clients with out-of-network benefits.
