Many people arrive at Walter Masterson’s door carrying the weight of lives that simply aren’t working — careers that have hollowed them out, relationships under strain, or patterns of behavior they can’t seem to break on their own. Walter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York City who works with teenagers, adults, couples, families, and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, abuse, trauma, and the particular pressures of professional life.
Before becoming a therapist, Walter spent more than two decades in investment banking, moving from technical analyst to senior project manager. He also raised four children in New York City. That breadth of lived experience — in high-stakes professional environments, in family life, through his own personal challenges — shapes how he meets clients: without illusion, and with a clear-eyed belief that real change is available to people who are willing to engage with it honestly.
Walter holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University and is licensed by the State of New York. He offers both in-person and online sessions.
