Walking into a first session with Carla MooreMcNeil, clients often sense right away that they are in the presence of someone who has personally experienced the difference that good counseling can make. That lived understanding shapes everything about how she works — she came to this field not through abstraction but through her own success in therapy, and she has carried that conviction with her through sixteen years of clinical social work practice.
Carla holds a master’s degree in Social Work from East Carolina University and has also completed hypnosis training. She works with children, teenagers, adults, and older adults across a wide range of concerns: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, impulse control, substance use, and addictions that include gambling and the compulsive pull of gaming or endless scrolling — those same reward loops wearing a new face. She also brings substantial experience to career transitions, professional burnout, marriage and family issues, and group work, and she offers sessions online.
At the center of her practice is a straightforward belief: people are not fixed in place. With the right support and encouragement, change is genuinely possible — and Carla measures her own success by watching her clients reach the goals they set for themselves.
