Relationships, anger, and the patterns that quietly wreck both sit at the center of Gary Forrest’s clinical work. Adults navigating fractured partnerships, communication that’s collapsed into conflict, or the gravitational pull of substances, compulsive gambling, or behaviors that have migrated from the casino floor to the phone screen find in Gary a therapist who has genuinely lived through complexity before he ever sat across from a client. After twenty-seven years in high-tech executive management — running teams, managing travel, sustaining a marriage across all of it — he returned to school, earned his MS and PhD, and entered psychotherapy in 2007. That first career isn’t background noise; it’s the reason his systemic orientation feels grounded rather than textbook.
Gary works exclusively with adults, individually and as couples. His framework holds that psychological distress is rarely just internal — it lives in context, in the quality of a person’s relationships, and in the systems those relationships create. He is trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level II) and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and holds certifications in anger resolution, trauma resolution, batterer’s intervention, and substance abuse. Standardized assessment instruments shape how he tailors each session. Online sessions are available, and insurance billing is handled in-office.
He describes his sessions as intense but never depressing — and takes the laughing as seriously as the hard work.
