Couples navigating the slow erosion of trust after an affair, individuals weathering burnout that followed them home, families where dinnertime has become a negotiation over who puts their phone down first — these are the people Michelle Vandegriend built her practice around. A Registered Psychologist based in St. Albert, Alberta, she works with adults 18 and older, both individually and as couples, drawing on more than two decades of counselling experience to meet people where they actually are.
Michelle holds a Master’s and PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta — one of only four Canadian programs accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association at the doctoral level. She is also a fully Certified Gottman Therapist and carries advanced certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Her work spans anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, life transitions, and confidence, alongside couples counselling for communication breakdowns, infidelity, intimacy, blended families, and co-parenting.
Her approach is holistic and grounded — attending to emotion, thought, body, relationships, environment, and spirituality together. She describes her style as down-to-earth and collaborative, with a genuine belief that the fit between client and psychologist matters as much as any technique. Online sessions are available.
