For more than two decades, Robyn Holmes-Cannon has built her practice around a straightforward conviction: that healing requires both a skilled clinician and a relationship grounded in genuine trust. The Oakland-based LMFT works with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, abuse recovery, and the particular pressures that surface at work, in families, and across generations.
Her toolkit is evidence-based and deliberately varied. Robyn is trained in EMDR and the Flash Technique for processing difficult life events, and she weaves in somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness-based CBT, and self-compassion practices depending on what each person needs. For clients whose nervous systems are already overtaxed — the kind of low-grade, always-scanning tension that builds when rest and stillness feel impossible — body-based and mindfulness work can help restore a felt sense of calm that talking alone may not reach. With younger clients, child-centered play and sand tray therapies anchor the work, and parents are brought in as active partners throughout.
Robyn offers a complimentary 30-minute consultation so prospective clients can get a real sense of the fit before committing. Sessions are available in person in the Montclair Village area and online.
