At the heart of Shannon Ritchie’s practice is a conviction that people make sense — that conflict, disconnection, and pain are responses to circumstance, not character flaws. As Clinical Director of Currents Clinical Counselling in Kamloops, BC, Shannon works with individuals, couples, and families to map the patterns that keep them stuck and build something more workable in their place. Her methods draw from Response-Based Practice, Systemic Family Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, woven together with trauma-informed, solution-focused, and Gottman approaches.
Shannon supports a wide range of clients — teenagers and adults navigating trauma, relationship strain, mood and anxiety disorders, or the aftermath of abuse and violence. She has particular expertise with first responders, a population that knows intimately what it means to carry the weight of a shift home and never quite set it down — the alert that comes at dinner, the mind that stays at work long after the body has left. Virtual sessions are available, making consistent care accessible regardless of location.
Holding a Master’s in Counselling from City University and more than ten years of post-graduate experience, Shannon also serves as an Approved Clinical Supervisor, mentoring counselling interns and practitioners. Her aim, across every context, is a collaborative space where people feel respected enough to look honestly at what they’re carrying.
