Many people arrive at Tyler Hoyt’s door carrying weight they’ve been hauling quietly for years — fractured relationships, persistent anxiety, addictions, unresolved trauma, or a career that has slowly emptied them out. Tyler is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Marriage and Family Therapist based in Bedford, Nova Scotia, who works with children, teenagers, adults, couples, parents, and families navigating exactly these kinds of struggles, in person and online.
His conviction is straightforward: healing is available to everyone, regardless of how long they’ve been stuck or how complicated their circumstances look. For that healing to take hold, Tyler believes the therapeutic relationship itself has to be trustworthy and emotionally safe — a place where self-awareness can grow, old assumptions can be examined, boundaries can be rebuilt, and pain from the past can finally be set down. He draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Gottman Emotion Coaching, always within a person-centred frame that treats each client as the authority on their own life. He also recognizes that for many people, the inability to genuinely rest — to stop checking, scrolling, or staying on alert — isn’t a bad habit but a nervous system that has never been taught it’s safe to switch off.
Tyler holds a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and welcomes questions about his training, approach, or what a first session might look like.
