Avery Briggs

About Me

Avery Briggs Counselling is a transgender and neurodivergent affirming practice built on principles of peer support and harm reduction. I work with people in Ontario and Alberta — particularly those who have felt let down or misunderstood by more conventional mental health approaches.

I have a genuine appreciation for people who live outside the expected script: the black sheep, the dreamers, those whose lives don’t map onto standard categories. My primary focus is working with trans and queer individuals who are exploring identity, considering transition, or navigating the complexities of coming out. I also welcome individuals, couples, and relationships of all configurations who want to explore gender, sexuality, non-monogamy, life transitions, trauma, and family conflict.

My approach is primarily relational and draws on somatics, parts work, and solution-focused dialogue. Growth and healing tend to happen through connection — with other people, with ourselves, and with the parts of us that have been waiting to be understood. In a world that asks a great deal of us, including constant availability and performance, I’m particularly interested in helping people locate their own pace and their own ground.

There’s no expectation about how you should arrive here. Show up as you are, and we’ll find our way from there.
